Day 64 – Have you honored them today?

Flanders Field
What have you done to honor those who have given their every tomorrow for your today?

This is the question that I asked of my students today.  It really made them think about the opportunities that are in our everyday life.  Are you taking advantage of this gift that the Lord has given you?  You’re here therefore there is work still to be done.  So get busy living and in so doing you honor those who have given so much.

Thank you Veterans!

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 – 1918)

  1. To honour those who gave their lives and those who are currently serving, my BF and I attended the service at our local cenotaph. Over 1000 people attended. It was a beautiful ceremony.

  2. We had our small group over last night and one of the young teachers was telling me about how some of her students don’t have a real sense of valor and honor. It’s so sad.

    Thanks for the reminder.
