And the winner of the 9/9 – 10/10 Challenge is …..

Deb with Deb Will Be Free

What a fantastic month.  Way to go Steve, Loretta, Deb, Vicki and Tracy!!!  I have been so encouraged by each of your postings.  I think this Challenge came around at the perfect time.  We needed a short time of focus that would solidify some new habits.  Let’s keep it going.

9/9 to 10/10 Challenge Check In #5

10/10/2010

Goals
2x Workout with Angie my trainer
Monday & Friday workouts are great but there is a lot that can happen in-between.  On Monday each lift was in reaction to one of my classes. “Period 8 — Grr Period 7 Grrr” and then by Friday I just had to pound the treadmill to find a little peace.

7x Log my food – 1800-2000 cal. Yep I predicted it last week an “all at once” mentality is a sure-fire way to sabotage success. The carb thing really tripped me out and I had to make concerted efforts to eat correctly.  Not a good place to be because I was eating according to the plan but I was too critical with each decision. I’ll need to keep this carb thing on the back burner but I know it is an area for improvement.

5x I will be in bed by 10.
Hee Haaww 100%!!!!!

64 oz of water a day.
This goal is coming along nicely. I need to budget more in the morning hours. It’ll make for better sleep.

7x Prayer and study
As stated in the Hot 100 update I was really at a point of white knuckling it on Friday and the thought of the gym just aggravated me.  Fortunately, I paused prayed and pounded it out on the treadmill.

Proud  Whew! We made it!

Thanks for taking this challenge with me.  From your postings I know it challenged us to refocus and grow.

I’ll announce the winner of the Challenge on Monday. :-)

How was your week?

(I know it’s a little redundant for all us Hot 100′s. The benefit of any Challenge is the support and being accountable for a period of time.
Whatever it takes it’s what we do).

Drop Dead Gorgeous By December Update

10/09/2010

The host of this Challenge has changed the parameters but I’m continuing on.

These pictures serve as an added reminder of what I’m focusing on.    I then added them as my desktop picture.   My students have also enjoyed the new shot each week.

What are some of the things that you put up as a motivator or reminder?

because I'm packed and ready to go for the week.

9/9 to 10/10 Challenge Check In #4

10/03/2010

Goals
2x Workout with Angie my trainer
Worked on more Boot Camp style routines.  I have no rhythm and my head keeps telling my legs to be careful and the override command is winning.  Rebooting is difficult.
7x Log my food – 1800-2000 cal.  Really discovered how many carbs I’ve been eating.  It is a high number.  I’m going to try not to concentrate on too many new things.  All at once is a sure-fire way to sabotage my success.  I’ll keep it on the back burner but I know it is an area for improvement.
5x I will be in bed by 10.
This is still very difficult. I need to focus on this. I need the rest.
5x Drink 64 oz of water a day.
This goal is coming along nicely.  I need to budget more in the morning hours.  It’ll make for better sleep.
7x Prayer and study
I’m enjoying teaching my class on Wednesdays and the time spent in the Word.

Proud I’m so very proud of the Masters Swimming Team that I joined.  Most importantly I survived the work out. I thought the first two warmup sets were tough but then came the Main Set.  During the Main Set I swam 4 - 50′s as fast as possible with a 10 second rest between 50′s and I did that 4 times with a 3 minute break between sets. Whew, what a mouth full.  Are you just tired from reading it?  Now you know how I felt. Whew!

9/9 to 10/10 Challenge Check In #3

09/25/2010

Goals
2x Workout with Angie my trainer
Workout once but had an incredible lesson at the grocery store.  Healthy is 80% food.  Without that knowledge I’m just spinning my wheels
7x Log my food – 1800-2000 cal
5x I will be in bed by 10.
This is really difficult.  I’m in bed but not asleep. Which is funny because my Flashback is about this subject.
5x Drink 64 oz of water a day.
I white knuckled this one.  It’s not a habit yet.
7x Prayer and study
I’m enjoying teaching my class on Wednesdays and the time spent in the Word.

Proud This week was more difficult than I had expected.  I left my desk a mess so many times so the victory was that I left each and everyday at a decent hour.  I then did positve things to stick with my goals.

How was your week?

The Hot 100

09/22/2010
Here we go again. Steve at Log My Loss is hosting the Second Annual

We’re going to end the last 100 days of the year strong and on target. It begins tomorrow, September 23, and runs until December 31st.

I’m already in a few Challenges so I’m adding one HOT 100 goal.

Here’s how my goals stand in order to celebrate m9/9 to 10/10 Blogoversary Challenge and to be Drop Dead Gorgeous by December for Maui and to finish the year off strong with the HOT 100:

    • 1. Take 10,000 steps a day
    • 2. Workout with Angie my trainer
    • 3. Go to bed by 10 on week days
    • 4. Drink 64 oz of water a day.
    • 5. Pray and study

So here’s to the end of 2010.
As Steve said (with a 1st person modification) …

“One hundred days to make this my year.  One hundred days to achieve my goals.  One hundred days, each and
every one of which can be a great day!”

Are you in?

Drop Dead Gorgeous By December

09/19/2010

So here we go again.  I entered another challenge.  The Drop Dead Gorgeous by December Challenge is being hosted by Jess and you may join in at any time.

I’m headed back to Hawaii in December to celebrate a very dear friend’s birthday.  So I really need to make significant progress. It’ll be so wonderful to celebrate this victory in sunny Maui.

I’ve added one new goal to my 9/9-10/10 goals and that is to walk 10,000 steps a day.

So ALOHA!!

9/9 to 10/10 Challenge Check In #2

09/18/2010

Goals
2x Workout with Angie my trainer
7x Log my food – 1800-2000 cal
5x I will be in bed by 10.
5x Drink 64 oz of water a day.
7x Prayer and study

A star for every goal.  What a great week.  I loved starting the week off with two sessions with Angie.  It meant that most of my week I was on my own for exercise.  It was gorgeous so walks in the evening were on the agenda.  I did notice that towards the end of the week my desk really started piling up.  The most difficult thing to do is to leave a pile on my desk but I must keep my new schedule.  It is too important.  I might try a morning swim.  I like when I exercise in the morning because any additional activity in the day is a bonus.   (Tracy we’ll give it a go together).

How was your week?  Knowing that you folks were keeping true to your goals sure helped me along too.

Proud — I actually said no.  I said no to an additional work assignment that would have brought recognition, extra paid preparation hours and stress. Normally I would have tossed everything to the side and made this my number one priority.  I’m guarding my schedule.  I must keep true to these goals.

9/9 to 10/10 Challenge Check In #1

09/12/2010

Goals
1. 2x a week -
Workout with Angie my trainer
2. 7x a week -
Log my food - 1800-2000 calories
3. 5x a week -
I will be in bed by 10.
4. 5x a week -
Drink 64 oz of water a day.
5. Prayer and study

So far so good.  The hardest is the water intake.  Geeze that’s a lot of water especially when I’d rather have tea.

Proud –This week I am most proud about my workout sessions.  I like seeing the move demonstrated and then giving my all for three sets.  I even like when I can barely lift a weight and shake on the last 4 lifts.  What I am the most surprised about is my interval training on the treadmill.  I was able to walk at a 2.5 pace at a 5 elevation for a minute.  I couldn’t believe that I did it without knee pain.  It’ll be fun to look back on these numbers and track my improvement.

Happy Blogoversary to ME

09/09/2010

Happy Blogoversary to me, however, my original goal is not complete.  My original goal was set from
09/09/09 to 10/10/10.  I have a month to really shine.
I feel very determined.
I have such a great plan set in place.

First I have my trainer Angie.  I’m so excited about her.  We are a perfect match.  I so trust her and find her so engaging.  She is so committed to what she does that it is encouraging me to do better and be better.  It’s not only a workout but a nutrition lesson and a “figure things out session.” She is a get to the point kinda trainer with such care and concern behind every question and thoughtful answer I bat back to her.  These talk sessions are during the breath time between sets.  On Tuesday I had some friends acknowledge how much Angie is pushing me.  I loved it.  I feel strong and the pain is not as bad tonight, however I am Heeee Heee Heeeing when I get out of the chair.  I’m just waiting for the abs to yell at me tomorrow.  Bring it!

Second I’m recording all of my food.  Angie is reviewing it and giving me advise.  So far so good.  I know that when I turn in my homework it will determine how much pain Angie will inflict.  Today while she was reading the food journal she and I forgot to count during the squats. Ouch!  More importantly by keeping track I knew that at the end of the night when I was still hungry I was good to go to have a guilt free Chicken Wrap.  No for the hard part Angie has restricted me to only 1 coffee a week.  Oh the humanity!

Third I’m trying new things to get me out of my comfort zone.  I’m going to teach a class at church for the Women 2 Women’s group.  This is out of my comfort zone because I’m only use to teenagers.  I’m also going to host/MC a Women’s retreat for the same group in October.  I’m stepping out!

Fourth I’m hosting

The 09/09/09 to 10/10/10 Challenge
(See Post 1 and Post 2 ). You have until midnight on September 11th to join in.  As a thank you for this past year I’m giving away a
Bodybugg Armband.

The give away includes:

  • bodybugg® armband
  • Online food logging with custom meal plans
  • 6-month subscription to the web-based program
  • 1 phone session with a bodybugg® coach

Finally I committing to prayer for the next 30 days to ask the Lord for healing in this area of my life.  Angie asked me if I thought I deserved the results that I’m working for and the answer is YES!  I’m here for such a time as this and I’m going to get back what the enemy has stolen.  I have had an abundant life but oh I want everything that the Lord has in store for me.   I’m still here and I’m going to finish strong and in peace.  No more head battles.

  1. Through grace I will commit to a season of healing. (Ecc 3:3)
  2. I will not allow guilt consume me.  I have brought this on myself  but I will not block the healing by inflicting this pain on my body or on my mind anymore. (Psalm 147)  Yes I will have those days where I will feel the need to run to the frig or the drive-thru but I will take a breath, offer a prayer and find strength. At the end of the day I will recap the events of the day and be thankful for the victories and learn from the choices.

So there you have it.  A month of determined effort.

So what can happen in a year’s time from 09/09/09-10/10/10? I will continue to answer that question within this blog.

“People don’t believe what you say. They believe what you do.”

Time to get busy!!
