Day 2 – Good decisions begin with breakfast.

09/10/2009

I don’t know what it is but I must leave my house as soon as possible in the morning. The idea of sitting down and eating a relaxing meal before the day when there are things to be done is ludicrous. Usually I leave home and grab a Mickey D’s breakfast on the way in. I’ll either scarf it down before I get to school and score 2 points as I toss the bag out the window into a dumpster at a near by apartment complex or I  sneak on campus with my prize.   I’ve walked into my classroom more times than I can count with a Mickey D’s diet coke.  That Mickey D’s diet coke is the only evidence that serves as a reminder that I didn’t start the day off right once again. I can only imagine what my students think as they see what I’ve been up to once again.

BUT NOT TODAY!

I was running late and I almost justified going to Mickey D’s to get a breakfast but I decided to head for the store instead.  I decided that since I have the need to be at my desk in the morning as soon as possible that I should have breakfast there. So I got some non fat milk and cereal and ate breakfast in my classroom. This one decision set me up for the rest of the day.  I have made great food choices ever since.

I spoke about this Blog for the first time to a friend at lunch duty.  One of the reasons why I wanted to start this Blog is because I just can’t continue to bore my friends with this “Diet Talk” and then never follow through.  I receive their encouraging words, prayers and advice only to have no results to account for their kindness.  I just can’t talk to them again about this subject and then disappoint.   So I decided to talk to the WORLD. Go figure? I know it seems funny but my friends will probably be my strongest supporters but this is the time to just put it out there.  I’m actually offering this Blog up as a prayer for He is the one who truly can answer this cry of my heart.  Once again this year is going to go by so why not keep track of this extraordinary progress.  I’m reminded of a quote from the 1994 movie The Shawshank Redemption “hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies.” This is a good thing that is going to be supported with effort, discipline, prayer, tears, sweat, reflection, discovery, truth and joy.

Day 1 Hello world!

09/09/2009

09/09/09 – 10/10/10  What can happen in a little over a year?
Time is going to pass so why not have a set focus of time and let’s see what can happen. I’m a little nervous about writing. I’ve erased more sentences than I can count since I’ve started writting just a minute ago.  I’ve written Blogs in my mind since June but have not taken the first step of actually writting the post.

So this is the beginning of an incredible REAL and TRUTHFUL Year.
